December is a wonderful time of the year, filled with joy. However, it is also a time when our lives get busy, often hectic. There is planning to do, lots of preparations to be made and parties to plan and attend.
It’s so interesting that we have so much keeping us busy while the earth is slowing down. The plants and the animals beginning to rest while the temperature gets colder. Instead of rushing around, December can be a time when we practice self-care, slow down and take care of ourselves. Of course self care begins with making sure that you are drinking enough water everyday. At lease 8 cups a day or drink 1/2 your weight in ounces. Next on your self care list could be exercising and fresh air. Spend time in nature and breath in the fresh air.
During this time of year, carving out time in your day to slow down is very important and almost a necessity. A wonderful way to “re-boot” is to close your eyes and just take 3 deep breaths in and out. Even meditation is a great way to clear your mind, help you de-stress and relax. Perhaps, as a way to share the importance of self care with the others, shop for self care items to give your family and friends. These items do not have to be expensive. For example, give bath salts to bombs, hand or body lotion or luxurious soaps or a small mediation timer.
