Preparing for Your Class at Peaceful Yoga

Welcome to Peaceful Yoga! We’re excited and delighted to have you join our community. To ensure you have the best experience possible, here are some tips and guidelines to help you prepare for your class.

Getting Started

Here is all the information you need for an amazing experience at Peaceful Yoga.

To make registering for class a breeze, don’t forget to download the Walla App on your phone. With the App, you can log into your account, see our schedule, and book your classes.

Stay Updated Now that you have the app, be sure to subscribe to our notifications, email, and texts. This way, you’ll receive your booking confirmations, cancellations, and updates if we need to cancel a class due to bad weather. You’ll also get info on workshops and special classes.

Studio Policies
If you ever need to cancel a class, please do so at least 2 hours prior to class time. We know things come up, so please familiarize yourself with our Studio Policies.

PREPARING FOR CLASS

We are located on 32 Church Street in Maverne across from the LIRR Station and the Malverne Gazebo.

What to Bring

  • Yoga Mat: Bring your own yoga mat for personal comfort and hygiene. If you don’t have one, we have mats available for rent and for sale.
  • Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is important. Bring a water bottle to keep yourself refreshed before, during, and after class.
  • Towel: While not essential, a small towel can be handy for wiping off sweat and maintaining grip.
  • Comfortable Clothing: Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for easy movement. Layers are a good

Before You Arrive

  • Eat Light: Try to eat a light meal or snack at least 1-2 hours before class. Heavy meals can make you feel sluggish and effect your practice.
  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to ensure you are well-hydrated for your practice.
  • Avoid Strong Scents: Please refrain from wearing strong perfumes or scents out of respect for those with sensitivities.

Arrival

  • Be Punctual: Arrive at least 10-15 minutes early to sign in, set up your mat, and get settled. This allows the class to start on time and minimizes disruptions.
  • Silence Your Devices: Ensure your phone and other electronic devices are silenced or turned off to maintain a peaceful environment.
  • Inform the Teacher: If you have any injuries, medical conditions, or concerns, let the instructor know before class starts so they can offer appropriate modifications.

During Class

  • Listen to Your Body: Practice at your own pace and listen to your body. It’s okay to take breaks and modify poses as needed.
  • Respect the Space: Maintain a quiet and focused atmosphere. Avoid talking during practice to help everyone stay centered.
  • Stay Present: Focus on your breath and stay present in the moment. This enhances the benefits of your practice and promotes mindfulness.

After Class

  • Clean Your Space: Wipe down any props or mats you borrowed and return them to their designated areas.
  • Reflect and Hydrate: Take a few moments to sit quietly and reflect on your practice. Drink water to rehydrate your body.
  • Connect with Community: Feel free to connect with fellow students and teachers after class. We encourage a supportive and friendly community.

  • Consistency: Regular practice helps you progress and reap the full benefits of yoga.
  • Open Mind: Come with an open mind and heart. Each class is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Our studio is a sacred space, and we believe these principles help to create an inclusive, judgment-free environment for everyone.
